BREAKING NEWS: Rotaract West Los Angeles just received a Matching Grant from Rotary International for the club’s next International project to build a Physical Therapy room for low-income children with Down-syndrome. This project is in conjunction with the Rotary Clubs of Culver City, Century City, and Pinhais Brazil. Receiving this Matching Grant from Rotary International will allow our clubs to work together to raise $20,000 for this project.

Team Rotaract D5280, lead by the Rotaract Club of West Los Angeles, recently walked in July’s Santa Monica Relay for Life event, benefiting the American Cancer Society. The team collectively raised over $2000 and is still fundraising for this cause! Please visit our team page to make a donation to ACS in our team’s name.

Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored international service club for young professionals between the ages of 18 and 30. As one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service programs, with more than 7,000 clubs in about 163 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.

The Rotaract Club of West LA (RWLA) was officially chartered February 25, 2004. It is one of only two community-based clubs in District 5280, one of the strongest Rotaract districts in the world. As a community-based club, RWLA is made up of young professionals working in the greater Los Angeles area. RWLA members represent all functions and industries, ranging from consulting to entertainment, and from real estate to non-profits.

Rotaract Clubs organize a variety of projects and activities, focusing primarily on the interests of the club’s members. However, all Rotaract Clubs must undertake five categories of activities:

  • Local Service
  • International Service
  • Professional Development
  • Networking
  • Leadership Development

Through the Rotaract program, young adults not only develop their knowledge and skills but also address the physical and social needs of their communities while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service.
